Das Central Sölden – Alpine. Luxury. Life.
Ski and wellness holidays in the 5 star hotel in Tyrol
What could be better than spending the winter season in the mountains? Skiing, wellness, going for a walk and just enjoying the sun and the view to the mountains and the sparkling snow. My boyfriend and I decided to do a short holiday in Sölden. We spent the days in the beautiful 5-star hotel Das Central and I would like to introduce it to you now.
Hotel & Rooms
I particularly like the combination of alpine and modern design. The hotel impresses already from the outside with many wooden elements, combined with large glass surfaces that reflect the casual luxury of the hotel. The typical alpine design can be found in the entrance area, in the lobby and in the various restaurants and creates a wonderfully cozy atmosphere.
The rooms are very modern and also here many alpine elements can be found. We had a junior suite and I loved the bathroom. The side, where the free-standing bathtub was, was completely glazed and you could even look out through the window to the mountains. Also, if the wellness area of the hotel already completely covers all wishes, I didn’t miss a bath in this great room.
On our first evening we got ourselves spoiled with a 6-course menu in the “Ötztaler Stube”. The courses were incredibly diverse and beautifully presented. The restaurant is furnished like a classy cottage and you really have the feeling of being in the middle of the mountains.
As a gourmet hotel, the breakfast at Das Central naturally leaves nothing to be desired. From fresh bread over sweets to hearty dishes and fine caviar everything is there. I was always excited in the evening for the breakfast the next day 🙂 On the second evening we visited in the hotel restaurant “Feinspitz”. There was a selection of different menus that were simply outstanding. Enjoyment at the highest level!
Wellness residence on 3 areas
The wellness area of the luxury hotel is completely designed in venetian style and divided into three areas.
On the top floor is the pool, with a real gondola from Venice. The wall is painted with a huge picture, which gives you the feeling of being on a beautiful open air terrace by the sea with a view to the surrounding buildings. The ceiling is decorated with many small lights, so it looks like a starry sky. The pool has a long swimming area, various hot tubs and benches. On this floor there is also a relaxation area, a small bar and a family sauna.
One the second floor down is the sauna world which can be used both with and without clothes. Here you will find all the saunas right from the classic Finnish sauna tn steam baths and hot stones. On the bottom floor there is a large lounge area with various relaxation options, a snack bar and a Jacuzzi. The room is completely decorated in white with many beautiful columns and round arches. At the very top is a huge screen, on which different scenes from Venice are played, so that you also have the feeling of being right there. On this floor there is a variety of non-textile saunas.
Right next door is also the spa area which offers various beauty treatments and massages.
In the 5-star spa hotel Das Central you can really stay forever and thus also days with bad weather are going to be fun.
Activities around the hotel
We were really lucky and every day we woke up by the sun and a bright blue sky. With this great weather, of course, you want to get out and off to the mountains! In addition to the incredibly great ski area, Sölden also offers great activities for non-skiers. There are beautiful hiking trails, also right on top of the mountain. At the gondola there are tickets for individual up and down trips which are really worthwhile! On the trail map ther trails are marked, so you can easily find your way around. At lunchtime you should visit one of the cute cottages overlooking the mountains. If you want something more modern, you should definitely visit the ice Q – a gourmet restaurant at an altitude of over 3,000m, fully glazed with a 360 degree panoramic view! Well, does the building look familiar to you? The James Bond movie “Specter” was shot here. More about the ice Q Restaurant is coming soon in its own blog Post 🙂
